Music
Music at Warlawurru gives students the opportunity to explore rhythm, melody, and expression through singing, movement, and instrument play. From Pre-Primary to Year 6, students take part in weekly music lessons where they learn to listen carefully, perform with confidence, and enjoy creating music both individually and in groups. Music supports creativity, coordination, and emotional expression, while also building important skills like focus, teamwork, and self-discipline. Performances and whole-school events give students the chance to share their musical talents and grow in confidence.
Warlawurru is supported by the Grass Roots Music Foundation, which provides a variety of musical instruments along with guidance and mentoring for students. This partnership allows students to explore and enjoy the joy of music.
STEM
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at Waralwurru encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and explore how the world works. Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 engage in projects that combine critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. Whether they’re designing structures, coding robots, or experimenting with scientific ideas, students develop important skills for the future. STEM learning is fun, challenging, and connected to real-life situations, helping students to become confident and curious learners.
At Warlawurru, we value the benefits of problem solving and critical analysis and have scheduled STEM mornings once a week which sees the students rotate through a range of planned experiences.
iPads
At Warlawurru each student from Pre-Primary to Year 6 has access to an individual iPad to support and enhance their learning. iPads are used as a tool for creativity, research, collaboration, and skill development across all learning areas. Aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and our Digital Technologies program, students learn to use iPads responsibly and safely, developing digital literacy and problem-solving skills. The use of individual devices allows for personalised learning, helping students to engage deeply, work at their own pace, and build confidence in using technology as part of their everyday learning experience.
