Early Childhood

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten program is available for children who turn 4 years of age prior to July 1st in the year they are due to commence. Kindergarten operates from Monday to Friday, 7.30-10.40am. At Warlawurru we aim to provide high quality Early Childhood learning and teaching reflecting the principles of the National Quality Framework (NQF) tailored to our community of Warlawurru and surrounds.

We use the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Western Australian Kindergarten Curriculum, and research-based programs to create an early childhood program. This program aligns with our whole school plans and initiatives and is designed to meet the needs of our community.

Kindergarten is a time of great social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth, and learning activities are designed to suit each child’s needs.

At Warlawurru, we support our students’ development in all these areas by offering a balanced mix of play, purposeful teaching, and spontaneous experiences and interactions. Learning experiences are active, engaging, challenging, and connected to the children’s own lives.

The learning environment is created with the child at its centre, carefully meeting each child’s individual needs. We want every child to feel safe, loved, and valued. At Warlawurru we live out the ‘Spirit of Jesus’ by making sure children experience God’s love in their daily interactions. We aim to help your child feel secure enough to take risks in their learning, develop knowledge and skills through problem-solving, and build confidence to try new things. This supports children in growing into the unique and talented individuals God created them to be.

Pre-Primary

Warlawurru provides a learning program to facilitate development of the whole child. We deliver an age-appropriate program that incorporates purposeful play, exploration and explicit instruction. Activities in Pre-Primary are child-centred and promote social interaction and self-development. Pre-Primary children attend full time schooling from the commencement of the year.
