School Values
Faith
At Warlawurru Catholic School faith means knowing God is Truth. We sustain our faith through prayer, Sacrament, loyalty and knowledge.
For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
Mt 17:20-21
Love
At Warlawurru Catholic School love means to respect God and the dignity of everyone by showing sincere care, concern, acceptance, empathy, and compassion for self and others.
He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind’. This is the greatest and first commandment. And ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’.
Matthew 22:37-39
Respect
At Warlawurru Catholic School respect means to act in a way that shows we care about others’ feelings and wellbeing, as well as our own.
A Samaritan while travelling came near him; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Luke 10:25-37
Service
At Warlawurru Catholic School service means committing to humbly showing consideration for the needs of others before ourselves.
During supper Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, got up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around himself. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him.
Luke 22:7-38
Justice
At Warlawurru Catholic School justice means everyone is to be treated equitably and all have the responsibility to treat others fairly.
‘What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God’.
Micah 6:8
At our school, we believe in actively recognising and celebrating positive behaviour and personal growth that aligns with our school values. One way we do this is through our Values Ticket system. Students can receive a Values Ticket when they are seen demonstrating one of our core school values. Teachers and staff are always on the lookout for these values in action – whether in the classroom, on the playground, or around the school community.
- One copy of the ticket is placed in our Values Box (used for weekly prize draws and recognition at assemblies).
- The other copy is sent home with the student to share the good news with their family.
We encourage families to celebrate this recognition with their child at home – it’s a wonderful way to reinforce positive behaviour and help children feel proud of their choices.
